37.292465, -89.053996: February morning sun pierces the cold during a freezing-fog event, which also had me wishing for a much wider-angle view, gloves, and probably a tripod, in this one from 2006 among what remains of some ancient bald cypress trees – many dating back more than 1000 years – still somehow standing in the meanders and backwaters of the Cache River Wetlands of southernmost Illinois, not far from where the Ohio and Mississippi watersheds converge.
